Raymond Milnes - Chairman

A retired company secretary and director, Raymond has many years experience at senior management level in both the private and public sectors. Formerly Pensions manager at Enkalon he went on to serve as Company Secretary of Short Brothers PLC for some 18 years, followed by close involvement in the establishment of the Odyssey Trust Co., To oversea the development of the Odyssey Millennium Project from 1997 to 2003.

He also served as a Non-Executive Director of the Northern Ireland Health & Social Service board for some 6 ½ years before becoming Chairman of United Hospitals IN 2004, retiring in 2007.

Raymond became a Trustee of Enkalon Foundation in 2003 and succeeded the late Dr R.L Schierbeek as Chairman in 2011. The foundation benefits from his extensive management and financial / investment expertise.

Raymond is married to Iris with 2 sons and 1 daughter and at last count, 10 grandchildren.

Peter Dalton - Trustee

Peter worked in Enkalon for almost 20 years in various departments ending up as personnel manager. He has lived in Antrim with his wife Hazel, son Paul and daughter Claire since 1974. After the closure of Enkalon Peter worked in a number of local and national companies.  Peter has also many voluntary positions within local organisations including being chairman of the North East Institute, chairman of Antrim Round Table, Enkalon Sports and Social Club, NI branch CIPD.

Peter initally became a trustee of the British Enkalon Pension Scheme and then a Trustee of the Foundation in 2007. He is currently on assessment panel for the Youth Sports Bursary Awards jointly funded by Enkalon Foundation and Antrim Borough Council.

John Wallace - Trustee

John Wallace joined the Personnel Department of British Enkalon in 1973. He had previously worked in a similar role on the Copperbelt in Zambia and then was a consultant for 6 years with the Industrial Training Service working throughout Northern Ireland.  In 1980 he took over the management of the British Enkalon Pension Scheme continuing in that role until the scheme was wound up in March 2011.

When the Enkalon Foundation was started in 1985  the late Dr R.L. Schierbeek invited him to administer the Foundation, a role which he fulfilled until November 2011, after which he became a Trustee.  

He has a keen interest in community development both locally and provincially as well as a passion for cross community activities. John has been a school governor for over 30 years and is currently Chair of the Board of Ballycraigy Primary School. He serves the Church of Ireland on several committees including being a Trustee of the Church of Ireland Pension Fund.

Married and living in the Borough of Antrim John has three sons and five grandchildren. He enjoys the theatre, gardening, history and travelling.

Mark Patterson - Trustee

Mark is a Partner in the Chartered Surveying Practice of O’Connor Kennedy Turtle and has been involved in the Construction and Property sectors in Antrim and throughout N. Ireland for the past 20 years.

Married to Jennifer they have three Children. Mark is a former footballer who relaxes now by running marathons.

Mark joined the Enkalon Foundation as a trustee in 2011.

Stephen Montgomery - Trustee

Stephen has lived in the Antrim area since his family moved there for the opening British Enkalon. Stephen’s father was employed there from when it first opened right through until it eventually closed.

A past pupil of Antrim Grammar School, Stephen spent twenty five years working for French tyre company Michelin, both in the manufacturing end and latterly covering Ireland in the commercial section. In 2005 Stephen took up the position of Health & Safety Director in his wife’s family business, Hutchinson Care Homes, when they extended from their two nursing homes in Antrim, adding two further homes in Randalstown.

 Married to Janet they have a son James, and a daughter Louise. Stephen is an enthusiastic golfer, and member of Massereene Golf Club. and still keenly follows motorcycle racing.


Stephen joined the Enkalon Foundation as a trustee in 2011.
